Jonathan's Portraits

Jonathan is the kind of model a photographer dreams of working with. Honestly, Jonathan looks good in any pose, and this caused problems in the editing room since every photo was our favorite. As an actor and musician, Jonathan is known to be the lead actor, and has a dazzling personality that, to his credit, makes him the lead in any situation he's in. As he posed for the camera, I tried to capture his essence as a human, not as an actor.

James is a director, a powerhouse that knows exactly what he wants and how to get it. Our photo session involved James talking me through his thought process as a director, and I listened and took note. I focused on his strengths; his strong attitude and laser focus, but also wanted to humanize James with his couch photos. Vulnerability is not a bad thing when you need to be in charge, it makes you human. I think he made it work.

Glenn Sturgest | Trumpet Musician

Glenn and I had an amazing conversation when were talking about how to set up his portrait session. As a solo trumpet/jazz musician, Glenn often plays for the weekday workforce in downtown Pittsburgh as they make their way to their offices. His music is his getaway from the uncertainties in the world today, and he plays with such integrity, that it gives you chills. For Glenn's portrait session, we wanted to focus on his music and his solidarity when he plays. I framed him in such a way that it feels like he's the only person in the city, and he plays for himself and the city alone. I hope we get another chance to work together, he was a true inspiration to work with.

Samantha is a force to be reckoned with, she is always the center of the room, and she deserves every moment she gets. We talked about her work ethic, and her fun and energetic lifestyle outside of work. In lieu of both, we wanted to focus on her fun, entertaining side of her personality. We had too much fun with his shoot, and the final photos we took were amazing. So glad I was able to work with her.
